Little How To to get an Virtual AP running on XBian.
\nI did NOT choose to install an DHCP Server on Xbian, as I just wanted to use the central one in my network.<\/p>\n
1.) Install software
\nsudo apt-get update
\nsudo apt-get install install hostapd hostap-utils iw bridge-utils<\/p>\n
2.) Update hostapd
\ncd ~
\nwget http:\/\/www.adafruit.com\/downloads\/adafruit_hostapd.zip
\nunzip adafruit_hostapd.zip
\nsudo mv \/usr\/sbin\/hostapd \/usr\/sbin\/hostapd.ORIG
\nsudo mv hostapd \/usr\/sbin
\nsudo chmod 755 \/usr\/sbin\/hostapd<\/p>\n
3.) Configure hostapd
\nsudo vi \/etc\/hostapd\/hostapd.conf<\/p>\n
interface=wlan0
\nbridge=br0
\ndriver=rtl871xdrv
\nssid=MY_SSID
\nhw_mode=g
\nieee80211n=1
\nchannel=11
\nmacaddr_acl=0

4.) Configure hostapd autostart
\nsudo update-rc.d hostapd enable <\/p>\n
5.) Configure IPv4 Forward
\nsudo vi \/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/p>\n
add
\nnet.ipv4.ip_forward=1
\nto the end of the file and save<\/p>\n
6.) Configure interfaces
\n# You will need to change the IP address and network to your networks settings!
\nsudo vi \/etc\/network\/interfaces<\/p>\n
auto lo br0
\niface lo inet loopback<\/p>\n
iface eth0 inet dhcp
\nallow hotplug wlan0
\niface wlan0 inet manual<\/p>\n
iface br0 inet static
\n bridge-ports eth0 wlan0

7.) Configure rc.local for boot
\nsudo vi \/etc\/rc.local<\/p>\n
add before exit 0<\/p>\n
ifup br0
\n\/etc\/init.d\/hostapd restart<\/p>\n
save and exit<\/p>\n
8.) Reboot
\nsudo reboot<\/p>\n
